| Yield |
One
unit of PQ Ectoflex 4020 consisting 2.6 gallons of liquid polymer
(Component A) and 55lbs of powder (Component B) will yield approximately
5 gallons of mixed material and will cover approximately 12
m²,
1.6mm thickness (first and second coat).
|
| Packaging |
PQ
Ectoflex 4020 is packaged in units of 77lbs Component B, 55lbs
moisture-resistant bags: Component A, 22lb container. |
| Coverage
Rate |
First
coat @ 1.6mm thick (22.3m²)
Second coat @ 1.6mm thick (22.3m²) Maximum application
thickness of 1.6mm per coat. Total application thickness should
not exceed ¼".
Coverage will depend on the condition of the surface and method
of application. It is recommended that a controlled test area
be installed to ascertain total amount of material needed under
job site conditions.
|
| Surface
Preparation |
Remove
all deteriorated concrete. Substrate should be free of all oil,
dirt and contaminants. The surface should be roughened by mechanical
methods such as sandblasting, water-blasting or other suitable
means. Areas deeper than 4mm should be repaired prior to the
application of PQ Ectoflex 4020. |
| Mixing |
Mechanically
mix with a heavy duty drill (400 to 600 rpm) and a jiffler-type
paddle with a “mud” type blade or in an appropriate
size mortar mixer. Pour all of the Component A (liquid polymer)
into the mixing container, then slowly add Component B (powder)
while continuing to stir until a homogeneous and lump-free mixture
is obtained. Mix for 3 to 5 minutes. |
APPLICATION
Trowel, Roller and Brush Application B |
PQ
Ectoflex 4020 can be hand applied by trowel, roller, brush or
spray. The recommended thickness of the coat to be applied is
approximately 1mm thick depending on substrate roughness. The
required performance is achieved by applying two coats (cross
direction – one vertical and one horizontal).
Depending upon ambient conditions, the second
coat may be applied as soon as the first coat is dry, approximately
4 hours, or when it cannot be marred with a trowel.
|
| Spray
Application |
For
large areas PQ Ectoflex 4020 can be applied using a Grayco President
or Bulldog pressure spraying machine with a suitable spray nozzle
as would commonly be used for heavy cement-base past. |
| Curing |
Allow
three days of air drying at 21°C
prior to being placed into service. Protect fresh applications
from rain, strong wind and intense sunlight for 8 hours. |
| Limitations |
•
The maximum application thickness is 1mm per coat
• The minimum ambient and surface temperatures should
be 5°C and rising at the time of application
• Do not apply coating when surface temperature is 32°C
and above
• PQ Ectoflex 4020 must be mixed to a uniform consistency,
without lumps (3 minutes minimum) Do not over mix
(5 minutes maximum)
• Apply only on a clean, sound, properly prepared substrate
• PQ Ectoflex 4020 should not be subjected to sharp, concentrated
point loads |
| Clean
Up |
PQ
Ectoflex 4020 is water-soluble and must be cleaned immediately
from tools and splashed areas. |
